Overview
Pitch Black Rainbow is the latest collection of illustrations and process art work from graphic artist, John Jennings. It collects the best of Jennings' catalogue from the last five years. His work celebrates the importance of black images in the speculative genres of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror and how the very presence of those images radicalizes the notions of the black subject.Reviews
"What do I love about Jennings' work? The vibrant use of color, the kinetic sense of motion even in static portraits like 'Wildseed Lion,' the sense of strength and playfulness in the compositions. Also, as Tananarive Due says in her introduction, 'A survey of Jennings' art is a survey of black popular and political life,' including African American superheroes. Also, it's just damn beautiful work." —Jeff VanderMeer, electricliterature.comAuthor Biography
